A downloadable Indesign Script

When drawing, texturing or just mocking about in Indesign I often take a screenshot, try to scale it and reframe it in Photoshop to make adjustments. It's a horribly inprecise way of doing things – and sometimes requires a bit back and forth.

So, I made this script for Indesign which will export a png in a subfolder called screenshots (which will be created in your Indesign-projects folder). That you can then place (File -> Place Linked) in Photoshop for a perfect fit.

Make it Work:

In order for it to work, you need to put it in your Scripts Panel Folder. And you need to name the layer containing your text (and the other things you want exported) Text. It will automatically put visibility back on the layers you previously had visible, making sure that "nothing changes."

How to use it:

The way I utilize this script is by placing the screenshot as linked in my Photoshop document. The exported png is 300 dpi + bleed making it sit perfectly at 100 % and it only contains text, since it hides all other layers except for the layer named Text. If I change something in Indesign I can reexport and it will reupdate in Photoshop since my image is linked, not embedded.
